Jorge García Pérez

Jorge García Pérez is Spanish. He received his dance training at the Estudio de Danza María de Ávila. At the age of 15 he was already dancing professionally in the System Ballet Aragón and subsequently in the Malandain Ballet Biarritz. In 2005 he won the gold medal at the Premio Roma competition. Heinz Spoerli then engaged him for the Junior Ballet and a little later for the Ballet Zürich as a soloist dancer. In 2008 he became a soloist at the Ballett Theater Basel, where he danced numerous leading roles under the direction of Richard Wherlock for fourteen seasons, for whom he also became a choreography assistant. In 2011 he created his first choreography Match(ing) Sounds. Since then, he has won numerous prizes at international competitions, including the Hanover Choreography Competition, Bugos-New York International Choreographic Competition and the Cross Connection International competition in Copenhagen. Jorge García Pérez is a member of Ballett Zürich again since the 2023/24 season.
